TWO ICONIC 00S POP BANDS COULD BE JOINING FORCES AS ONE GROUP

Two of the most iconic groups of the 2000s, S Club and Steps, could combine into one group sometime in the future.

S Club member Jon Lee, 42, recently said he would love for him and his band to join forces with Steps.

S Club, who formed in 1998 and has sold 10 million records worldwide, is currently comprised of Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett,Bradley McIntosh, and Jo O’Meara following the death of Paul Cattermole in 2023.

Steps rose to fame in 1997 with members Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, and Ian ‘H’ Watkins and have sold 22 million records worldwide.

Lee told The Sun: ‘S Club and Steps were around at the same time and our anniversary is only a few months apart.

‘I’d love to get us all together and do a Steps Club reunion.’

S Club reunited last year, including a show at London’s The O2 arena in front of 20,000 people, which came just months after Paul was tragically found dead aged 46.

Tina Barrett of S Club said of the band’s renaissance: ‘Back then, festivals were all about rock bands like The Rolling Stones and Oasis.

‘Now people are loving pop again. It’s not as embarrassing as it was back then, basically.’

S Club’s reunion was also notable because the band offered Paul Cattermole’s family a meaningful gift in his memory.

Cattermole famously sold his Brit Award on eBay in 2018 for a whopping £66,100.

The singer sold his 2002 best newcomer gong when he started to struggle financially after he was injured while performing at The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

In honor of Cattermole’s memory, the remaining band members bought the trophy back and reunited it with their late band mate’s family at the show.

Revealing the kind gesture, Cattermole’s brother, Colin, shared a picture on Instagram, writing: ‘Last Saturday, we had the extraordinary opportunity to attend my late brother’s band’s 25th-anniversary tour at the renowned O2 Arena in London.

‘The show was a resounding success, with a sold-out crowd and an electrifying atmosphere that resonated with their devoted fans. The band really pulled out all the stops!

‘This experience was not only surreal and emotional for me but also for my other brother, my wife, and Paul’s closest friends who shared the evening with us.’
