THIS MORNING REPLACED AND GMB EXTENDED IN ITV SCHEDULE SHAKE-UP

ITV is set for a huge shake-up as bosses have decided to axe popular breakfast shows, This Morning and Lorraine on Friday.

There will be a huge change to the usual schedule tomorrow morning to make way for a full day of Election results coverage.

Good Morning Britain will be extended for an extra 25 minutes, running until 9.25am. Susanna Reid will be joined by co-star Ed Balls for the special edition of the show.

The duo will also be joined by Kevin Maguire, journalist Andrew Pierce, Labour veterans Harriet Harman and Gordon Brown, and Boris Johnson’s ex-comms guru Guto Harri.

Julie Etchingham will later front a special show and lead the political segment as the results from the ballot boxes roll in

She will be joined by a team of ITV political correspondents placed in Westminster and Downing Street to share their findings. This means This Morning and Lorraine will be taken off air.

"The studio will host the best, brightest, most outspoken and listened to political policy makers and commentators in the country,” an ITV spokesperson told The Sun.

"This includes leading political punditry pairing Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire, former PM Boris Johnson's communications chief Guto Harri, Labour veteran Harriet Harman, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng and newly enobled Labour peer Ayesha Hazarika.

"They will all join as guests as the show continues to cover up-to-the-minute election news and insights through to 9.25am."They added: "ITV will remain on air from 9.25am with Julie Etchingham leading the coverage.

"Will Rishi Sunak stay in Number 10 or will Keir Starmer arrive for the first time? Who will be moving into ministerial offices? Dramatic political questions are likely to be answered during the live coverage on Day 2."

Elsewhere the BBC will also scrap some fan favourite shows on Friday as it also updates the UK on the results of the General Election.

The coverage started today at 9:55pm and will continue until 4:30pm on Friday before BBC One will broadcast the latest from Wimbledon.

The election and summer sports coverage have resulted in the cancellation of popular shows like Animal Park, Bargain Hunt, and Escape To The Country this Friday.
