SWITZERLAND HIT BY GRANIT XHAKA INJURY FEARS AS ENGLAND QUARTER-FINAL LOOMS AT EURO 2024

Switzerland are sweating on the fitness of captain Granit Xhaka ahead of their showdown with England on Saturday.

Xhaka underwent a scan on an adductor problem on Monday after complaining of the issue during the Swiss’ 2-0 win over Italy on Saturday.

The Swiss FA are expected to provide an update on Xhaka this afternoon when head coach Murat Yakin is due to hold a press conference.

Switzerland will be desperately hoping Xhaka is fit for Saturday’s quarter-final with England as he has been in fine form at Euro 2024.

The former Arsenal captain has been voted man of the match in two of Switzerland’s four matches, while he also shone in the win over Italy.

Xhaka had treatment on his adductor problem during the match with Italy, but he was able to finish the game - which gives Switzerland hope he will be fit for Saturday.

England, meanwhile, are hoping Luke Shaw can continue to train throughout the week ahead to be fit for his first appearance of the tournament.
