CORNISH BOUTIQUE HOTEL SOLD TO PRIVATE INVESTORS AFTER 22 YEARS

A clifftop hotel in Truro has been sold to a private investor group for an undisclosed sum. Driftwood Hotel has been owned by Paul and Fiona Robinson for the past 22 years and went up for sale when they decided to retire.

The New-England inspired property is perched along the South West Coastal Path and has sea views over Gerrans Bay. It has 14 rooms, a three AA rosette restaurant and a three-bedroom owner’s house, along with grounds of around five acres that lead down to a private beach.

Mr and Mrs Robinson said “Whilst we have mixed emotions about leaving Driftwood, it has been an amazing journey and we would like to thank all our guests, many whom of have become friends over the years, for their support and of course, our wonderful staff.”

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co advised on the sale.

Stephen Champion, director of hotels South West at Christie & Co, brokered the sale. He added: “Driftwood Hotel’s iconic location on the stunning Roseland Peninsula and fantastic reputation helped generate significant interest in this genuinely unique opportunity. We are delighted to see the business sell to an operator who plans to put further investment into the site to enhance its current offering.”
