JAY SLATER DISAPPEARANCE AND 'STOLEN ROLEX' THEORY EXPLAINED AFTER POLICE PROBE

Spanish authorities are delving into a new clue in the case of missing Jay Slater, involving a high-value watch that may be connected to his disappearance.

The 19 year old apprentice bricklayer from Lancashire was last seen on Monday, June 17, after he left an Airbnb in Masca, a secluded village on Tenerife, with two acquaintances he met at the NRG rave festival. Jay attempted to trek back to his accommodation in the south of the island on foot around 8am but has not been seen since.

Two weeks have now passed without any sign of Jay, and as of the weekend, the Civil Guard has called off the intensive search operations, though the investigation remains active. A spokesperson confirmed: "The search operation has now finished although the case remains open."

Speculation has been rife regarding Jay's mysterious disappearance, with the latest lead pointing to an incident involving a stolen Rolex watch.

A brawl reportedly erupted after Papagayo Beach Club shut its doors in the early hours of that fateful Monday, where Jay had been spotted enjoying himself. It is believed that during this altercation, a man had his valuable Rolex watch taken, reports the Mirror.

As reported by MailOnline, one of Jay's friends, who flew out to aid in the search, has proposed this theft could be a potential factor in Jay's disappearance to the police.

The Rolex watch's connection to Jay's disappearance in the rugged, mountainous area remains speculative, with authorities examining CCTV and security footage, yet no further developments have been reported.

In a final effort to locate Jay on Saturday, the Civil Guard rallied support from all emergency services and called upon volunteers familiar with the challenging terrain to join the extensive search operation.

Despite the scale of the police-led initiative, TikToker Paul Arnott, who has taken it upon himself to search in Tenerife, criticised the efforts as superficial.

On his social media account, Arnott expressed frustration, stating: "So, guys, I've literally been waiting for absolutely ages now. This is a massive PR thing, I'm telling you now. I'm gonna ask him in a second to take my name off the list. I'm just gonna go down there and do my thing. I'm gonna do that now, I think. Because there's people everywhere. Literally people everywhere and nobody's doing anything."

He later hinted that a pair of sunglasses could be a significant lead in his investigation. Earlier today, he stated: "Moving forward a lot of new things have come out due to interviews. There's quite a few things I'm gonna chase up today as well. One is a three words GPS. The other, apart from that, is a pair of sunglasses that were found by a man called Chris, who I'll be meeting up with later today."
