‘UNFIT TO SERVE’: 111 FORMER GOP OFFICIALS BACK HARRIS OVER TRUMP

It seems Donald Trump has failed to invoke the confidence of a large chunk of veteran GOP members, as over 100 former National Security officials of Republican administrations recently signed a letter endorsing Democratic Presidential hopeful Kamala Harris instead.

According to the letter, the former GOP officials have deemed Trump “unfit to serve again as President, or indeed in any office of public trust,” Knewz.com has learned.

The letter was signed by 111 former national security and foreign policy officials who served in the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump and have also served as Republican members of Congress.

However, they still chose to support the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2024 elections because of their displeasure with the prospect of a second term of the Trump presidency.

Notably, the list of disapproving GOP veterans includes longtime supporters of the former President, along with those who had not endorsed President Joe Biden during his first presidential run in 2020.

The letter pointed out, “We expect to disagree with Kamala Harris on many domestic and foreign policy issues, but we believe that she possesses the essential qualities to serve as President and Donald Trump does not.”

The former GOP officials even went so far as to say that they “firmly oppose the election of Donald Trump.”

“As President, he promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests, and betrayed our values, democracy, and this country’s founding documents,” the statement from the Republican former national security leaders read.

“In our view, by inciting the violent attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and defending those who committed it, he has violated his oath of office and brought danger to our country.”

The letter then quoted a statement by Trump’s own former Vice President Mike Pence: “Anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.”

Echoing the sentiments of the open letter from 10 former U.S. military officials earlier in September, the letter from the former GOP officials also called Trump “dangerous” for the nation, as it pointed out the former President’s “unusual affinity” toward despotic rulers.

“Donald Trump’s susceptibility to flattery and manipulation by Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, unusual affinity for other authoritarian leaders, contempt for the norms of decent, ethical and lawful behavior, and chaotic national security decision-making are dangerous qualities,” the letter mentioned.

The letter also stated that the ideological differences between the two parties and the resultant concerns regarding Vice President Harris pale in comparison to “Trump’s demonstrated chaotic and unethical behavior and disregard for our Republic’s time-tested principles of constitutional governance.”

It is worth noting that among those who signed the letter was Robert B. Zoellick, the former President of the World Bank, who previously wrote an op-ed piece in The Washington Post criticizing the Biden administration’s economic policies.

Zoellick, who served in four Republican administrations at the White House, State and Treasury departments, and as the U.S. trade representative, specifically criticized the current Democratic regime’s alleged “revolution” to overhaul the economic structure established by their predecessors.

The letter from the Republican Former National Security Leaders came a few weeks after former U.S. military officials released a letter claiming that Harris is the only candidate who is “fit” for the presidency this year.

The letter also accused Trump of disparaging service members and putting them in “harm’s way,” and called the former President “a danger to our national security and democracy.”

“Frankly stated, Donald Trump is a danger to our national security and our democracy. His own former National Security Advisors, Defense Secretaries, and Chiefs of Staff have said so,” the letter released by the National Security Leaders for America read.
