WHEN IS STEPHEN REID LEAVING CORONATION STREET?

Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) has rocked Coronation Street since his return with three murders and a sinister plan to target Carla Barlow (Alison King) – but his life is unravelling as the bodies of his victims are gradually unearthed.

Leo Thompkins’ (Joe Frost) body had lay undiscovered in a hole on waste ground, but was unearthed by a digger after Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Ronnie (Vinta Morgan) bought the land for development.

Meanwhile, Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) has been left with his life hanging in the balance after dredging up a corpse in the canal.

We’ve seen Stephen trying to arrange a quick getaway to Thailand as his crimes begin to catch up with him, suggesting the character’s days in Weatherfield are numbered.

In the short time he has been back, he has already taken the lives of Leo, Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) and Rufus Donahue (Steven Meo).

First came Leo, who’s death was accidental, following a tussle on the factory gantry. He took a deadly fall when Stephen pushed him, during an argument about Stephen’s money troubles.

Next was Teddy, Leo’s dad, who had his suspicions over Stephen’s involvement in his son’s sudden disappearance. With Teddy onto him, Stephen had no choice but to finish him off, to stop his deadly secret getting out.

Dodgy businessman Rufus was Stephen’s next victim, after he tried to blackmail the killer over his treatment of Underworld boss Carla – he was found dead in his swimming pool and Stephen was revealed in a flashback sequence to have been behind it.

How much further can he go? With actor Todd Boyce’s next role confirmed, time is ticking for the notorious villain.

When is Stephen Reid leaving Coronation Street?

Viewers will be bidding farewell to Stephen Reid very soon, in a dramatic week of episodes set to air in October as part of ITV’s Super Soap Week.

It appears that Todd Boyce has already filmed his final scenes, as the actor was recently seen enjoying a night out with friends and colleagues to mark his departure from the soap.

Boyce has already secured his next role also, as he has joined the cast of Mother Goose in a pantomime production at Derby Arena – where he’ll be playing Demon Vanity.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk about the way Stephen’s story ends, Boyce has teased that viewers will find it very ‘satisfying’.

‘I think it will be satisfying with the audience,’ he said. ‘It’s hard to talk about without giving away too much detail but I think the audience will be pleased with it.

‘I hope people who have sense of who Stephen is, even if they don’t watch every episode [of Corrie], start tuning in now because it’s a fantastic Super Soap Week – it’s a different Super Soap Week. It’s thriller-esque.’

Speaking to The Mirror back in March 2023 Boyce addressed the possibility that the body count could rise before Stephen bows out.

‘I think there could be more,’ he told the publication.

‘He has a taste for it now and I think he figures that if he gets caught for three, he might as well get caught for four or five.

‘It would be great to go down in the record books as the show’s biggest serial killer. What a thing to be known for.’

We’ve known for some time that he’ll have to face up to his heinous crimes eventually – after producer Iain was asked if Stephen will get his comeuppance during February 15’s episode of Loose Women.

‘Of course he is, it’s a soap!’, he replied. ‘Bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don’t they? So, yes, 100%.’
