BRICE SAMBA REFUSES TO RULE OUT TRANSFER RETURN AS HE SPEAKS OUT ON FUTURE

Brice Samba says he is “not closing any doors” on his future this summer. The former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper has been linked with a return to Marseille from current club Lens, with new boss Roberto De Zerbi said to be looking for a new No 1 goalkeeper.

Samba is currently on international duty with France at Euro 2024, and speaking at a press conference he admitted he has seen the speculation. He said: “We’ll see what Lens’ position is. I’m captain so I don’t think Lens will want to get rid of me that easily.

“I’m very, very proud to be the captain of Lens. If I have to stay at Lens, I’ll stay. But I’m not closing any doors this summer, we’ll see what happens.”

Samba began his career at Marseille, spending over four years at the club, before moving to Caen which is where Forest signed him from in 2019. He achieved hero status at the City Ground as he helped the club win promotion back to the Premier League and many fans were sad to see him sold to Lens in the summer of 2022.
