Heroic retired soldier dives into raging river to save drowning boy in China

A retired soldier bravely plunged into a raging river to save a drowning boy in northern China. The heroic video was filmed in Baoding City in Hebei Province on July 7. A boy accidentally slipped while playing by the riverbank and was quickly swept away by the swift currents. In this life-or-death moment, a man walking on the bridge heard the cries for help and without hesitation, took off his shoes and leapt into the river. The man, Shi Zhian, a retired soldier currently working at the Tang County Urban Management Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau, used his exceptional swimming skills and calm demeanour to swiftly reach the boy. After a strenuous effort, he successfully brought the boy back to the shore. Although the rescued boy was pale and had swallowed a lot of water, he gradually recovered with the help of those around him. The boy's health was not significantly impacted, thanks to Shi Zhian's prompt rescue. The boy's parents expressed their profound gratitude to Shi Zhian for his heroic act.
