MAN UTD VS ARSENAL: LATEST TEAM NEWS, INJURY LATEST, PREDICTED LINEUPS

Manchester United will hope to have Bruno Fernandes available for their Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side are reeling from their 4-0 hammering at Crystal Palace on Monday night where they were without a host of first-team players.

Club captain Fernandes was the most notable absentee, missing out through injury for the first time as a United player having been spotted wearing a protective cast on his wrist last week.

Ten Hag’s comments leading into the match suggested he only narrowly missed out against Palace with Fernandes ‘doing his best to be available’ for the visit of the Gunners.

It is in defence where United’s problems are most pressing. Harry Maguire has joined the lengthy injury list and while there is hope he will be fit for the FA Cup final against Manchester City on 25 May, his Premier League season could be over.

Jonny Evans returned to fitness to partner Casemiro on that calamitous evening at Selhurst Park but ten Hag may have to rely on that pair once again this weekend.

There was good news however with Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford returning to training on Thursday. The Argentine has not played since February and could reportedly be in the frame to get some minutes on Sunday.

Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Willy Kambwala, Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have also been among those injured – although ten Hag remains hopeful Shaw will still have some role to play this season.

Marcus Rashford meanwhile has not featured since limping off in the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry with United hoping to have Scott McTominay available again after he missed the trip to Palace.

Arsenal meanwhile have a clean bill of health heading into what is another must-win game with Manchester City breathing down their necks in the title race.

Bukayo Saka was on the receiving end of some crunching challenges in the win over Bournemouth on Saturday, suffering a nasty cut on his shin.

The England international, who still managed to play on until the 86th minute against the Cherries, was spotted in Arsenal training on Tuesday wearing some protective strapping over his left shin.

Takehiro Tomiyasu was the only absentee in training early on in the week with Jurrien Timber also continuing to work his way back to full fitness having featured twice for the Under-21 side since returning from his ACL injury.

Both ten Hag and Mikel Arteta will provide further updates when they speak in their pre-match press conferences on Friday.
