They say if you love your job, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.
So, for those working in finance, every day must feel like a holiday.
The UK’s top industries for work satisfaction has been named, and it turns out that those employed in finance and accounting are among the happiest.
Despite the notoriously long working days, workers have few complaints, with an overall happiness average score of 72 out of 100, according to a recent study.
The industry also scored the best for workplace culture and opportunities for career development. And, with an average salary of £50,026 per year – more than double the national average of around £28,000 – plus bonuses, we can see why those finance bros might be feeling pretty chipper.
Tied in first place, was the healthcare industry. It’s important to note though, that the study did not include NHS workers, who have faced many challenge in recent years, including staff shortages, stagnating pay and a global pandemic.
Sarah Aviram, author of bestseller Remotivation: The Remote Worker’s Ultimate Guide to Life-Changing Fulfilment and TEDx speaker, previously shared her thoughts on how to get job fulfillment.
She suggested asking yourself some hard-hitting questions, to work out what it is you really want to do:
The private healthcare sector scored highly for diversity and inclusion, as well as work life balance. There were also good opportunities for career development, and workers were happy with their salaries.
Rounding out the top three sectors for happiness was the legal industry, with a score of 71 out of 100.
It scored highly in diversity and inclusion, workplace culture, and work-lie balance.
Its highest score was in diversity and inclusion at 3.73 although this was still significantly behind healthcare. It also had good scored for workplace culture and work-life balance.
The Futures Group took Glassdoor data to collate findings based on culture, diversity, work-life balance, senior leadership, compensation and career development.
The scores for each of these areas per sector were then combined to indicate an overall happiness score for each industry.
