BELGIAN PRIME MINISTER KNOCKED OUT AFTER FALLING OFF BIKE

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo fell off his bike and briefly lost consciousness while out for a ride with his son.

He was taken to hospital but tests revealed no long-lasting effects.

It happened on Saturday when Mr De Croo, 47, was near his home in the Flanders region, according to news agency Belga.

Posting a social media video from home on Sunday, the prime minister thanked medical staff for looking after him.

"Fortunately, I was wearing a helmet and my son called the emergency services," he said.

"Sport is good for your health. But sometimes you have to be a little careful," he added - as he also thanked well-wishers for their messages.

The accident was not expected to affect the prime minister's work schedule for the coming week, Belga reported.
