LIVERPOOL TRANSFER NEWS TODAY: £98M DOUBLE RAID, SALAH/VAN DIJK UPDATE, CHAMBERS LEAVING

Here’s all the latest Liverpool transfer news. The Reds are reportedly ready to push forward on a £98m double deal.

Liverpool's double Wolves raid

Liverpool are reportedly plotting a double-raid on a Premier League club that could cost near £100m. They’re refusing to go away.

GiveMeSport reports that Liverpool have made contact with Wolves over Pedro Neto. The Reds' interest is 'refusing to go away' and they're hoping to strike a deal this summer.

There's a 'growing' expectation that his agent, Jorge Mendes, will push for the transfer to go through. Liverpool are long-time admirers of Neto's and believe something could happen this summer.

But they're also in the market for another Wolves star. Arne Slot is supposedly a big fan of Rayan Ait-Nouri and are looking into a deal. They face competition for him, though - Manchester United would also like to sign Ait-Nouri in the transfer window.

And Liverpool would supposedly prioritise Neto first and foremost. Get that one done and Ait-Nouri could follow closer to the deadline.

All in, Liverpool would apparently pay around £98m for the pair of Wolves stars.

Van Dijk and Salah could leave

Liverpool are looking more and more likely to have another emotional farewell. It could well rival Jurgen Klopp’s.

The Telegraph has a run-down of the situation at Liverpool right now and that naturally includes the contracts that are up for renewal. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contract in a year's time.

That means they can negotiate with other clubs from January 1st which really, really, really isn't far off. The Reds have got to do something about that.

Alexander-Arnold is the big one, given he's well-positioned to be the club's centrepiece for years to come. It's absolutely vital that Liverpool tie him down.

Salah and Van Dijk are more complicated. Both are now well into their 30s - Van Dijk will turn 34 the week after his contract expires, Salah will turn 33 two weeks before his.

Thus, as the Telegraph explain, Liverpool are unlikely to offer them 'record-breaking' contracts. Instead, they'll almost certainly receive relatively short-term offers that are incentive-based.

And it's very possible that those offers are rejected. Both Salah and Van Dijk stand to make a lot of money in a year's time as they'll be free transfers. They're very unlikely to receive similar offers at Anfield.

So as things stand, Liverpool are set for another farewell next season that won't be easy to stomach.

Adrian could have stayed with Klopp

One player admits he may not have rejected an offer from Liverpool this summer if Jurgen Klopp was still at the club. Instead, Adrian joined Real Betis.

Adrian brought his five-year Liverpool spell to an end this summer as he returned to his boyhood club, Real Betis. The Spaniard had arrived back in 2019 as a backup goalkeeper to Alisson Becker and made an immediate impact.

Adrian ended up playing 12 Premier League games as the Reds won the title, while he was also a hero in the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea. He saved the final penalty in the shootout to help win the trophy.

There have been ups and downs since, of course, and Adrian mostly settled into a squad role for his final two seasons. He was well-liked in the group and reliable enough for Liverpool to keep him around even when he wasn't playing.

In fact, the Reds offered him a new contract this summer, even after zero appearances last season and just two in the last three years. Adrian, however, rejected that offer.

Van den Berg wants out

Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg has got two more clubs who want to sign him this summer as Bundesliga duo Stuttgart and Hoffenheim declare their interest.

That’s according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who claims that talks have already taken place between Hoffenheim and the player’s camp.

Although Stuttgart’s interest is now known, there have been no talks as yet between the two clubs over Van den Berg, he states.

The German league runners-up lost Hiroki Ito to Bayern Munich and Waledmar Anton to Borussia Dortmund in the off-season and replacements are required.

Plettenberg also reveals that the Dutchman wants to leave Anfield this summer having been left with the impression that Liverpool have ‘hindered’ his development.

Liverpool's Luke Chambers will head to the USA with the squad for their preseason tour but could then head elsewhere. The defender is reportedly heading back to Wigan Athletic on loan.

It means dropping down into League One, rather than taking a Championship loan. The Daily Mail's Luke Steele reports that there are second-tier offers on the table but the Reds feel Chambers is best suited to another spell at Wigan.
